1 arrested, 2 sought in Alta Mesa shooting

REDDING, Calif. - Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting that took place Sunday evening near Alta Mesa School.

Logan Jackson Barnhart, 20, of Redding was arrested Monday on charges of conspiracy, attempted robbery and murder in connection with the slaying of 21-year-old Thomas Sladek.

Investigators said Barnhart was arrested following a lengthy surveillance of a residence in the 2900 block of Newbury Lane. Following a negotiation with the occupants of the home, Barnhart surrendered and a search warrant was then executed on the residence.

According to police Barnhart revealed the identity of two other men involved in the shooting.

Investigators said the two at large suspects were also identified by witnesses as being responsible for the attempted drug robbery and homicide.

Police are looking for help in locating the wanted men, they are described as follows:

Raquan Anthony Blake Matthews, 17, black male juvenile, 5'11" 150 lbs, brown hair and brown eyes.

Dillon Ray Sims, 18, white male adult, 5'11" 155 lbs, brown hair and blue eyes.

Both of these suspects are considered armed and dangerous. If you see either of these suspects or know their whereabouts, do not attempt to detain them and call 911.
