Pedestrian killed after crash on Interstate 5
REDDING, Calif. - A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a commercial tractor-trailer on Interstate 5 in Redding late Wednesday night.
The California Highway Patrol said a 58-year-old pedestrian from Redding was in the freeway near the Cypress Avenue exit at approximately 8:40 p.m. when a tractor-trailer hit and killed them.
The #3 lane of Southbound Interstate 5 was shut down after the crash.
The CHP said it is unknown why the pedestrian was in the freeway. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor as it pertains to the driver of the commercial vehicle.
