UKIAH, Calif. - On Aug. 27, around 4:50 p.m., Ukiah police responded to the 900 block of Waugh Lane on the report of multiple gun shots fired in the area, according to officials.

Officers said upon arrival they made contact with three subjects, two of which were identified as Roman Maciel, 47, and his brother Miguel Maciel, 50, both of Ukiah. Officers learned that the two had been arguing when Roman went inside his house and retrieved a bolt-action rifle. Then officers said Roman came outside and fired four shots at the ground.

The rifle was found in a nearby trailer and seized as evidence, according to investigators.

Officers said Roman and Miguel appeared to be intoxicated.

Roman was placed under arrest for a negligent discharge of a firearm, violation of his probation and public intoxication. Miguel was arrested for public intoxication and an active warrant.
