CAL FIRE: Boles Fire at 350 acres, 15% contained
A wildfire near Weed, Calif. has damaged or destroyed more than 100 structures and is causing evacuations in the community of Weed, according to CAL FIRE.
According to Mt. Shasta Police mandatory evacuations were lifted in Lake Shastina and Carrick Monday evening.
CAL FIRE officials said the Boles Fire has burned 350 acres and is 15 percent contained, as of 8:45 Monday night.
The fire has forced more than 1,000 people to evacuate and is threatening more than 1,000 homes, said CAL FIRE officials.
An evacuation center has been set up at the Siskiyou County fair grounds in Yreka.
The California Highway Patrol instituted an emergency road closure of Interstate 5 near Weed around 3:00 p.m. I-5 is now reopened.
According to CAL FIRE flames have destroyed homes in the Angel Valley area.
According to a spokesperson with Pacific Power the fire had left 7,679 customers in Mt. Shasta and Weed with out electricity.
