CHP: Texting possible cause of roll-over crash in Samoa
SAMOA, Calif. - Friday, around 2 p.m., the CHP responded to a single vehicle crash on Highway 255 near Peninsula Drive in Samoa. The driver of a silver SUV, a young woman, was southbound when she veered off the road.
CHP said the driver, the only person in the vehicle, told them that she took her attention away from the road to look at her phone.
"For us this is a great reminder to not drive distracted," CHP officer Matt Harvey said. "We want to remind drivers to keep your eyes on the road, don't look down to manipulate a phone or answer a phone call or text message, because very quickly, circumstances can change."
The driver was uninjured and was able to get out of the vehicle without assistance.
