Eureka police investigating new lead in Mcdonald's hit-and-run case
EUREKA, Calif. - On Nov. 1 Eureka Police responded to a report of a hit and run on fourth street in front of McDonald's. Surveillance video showed the suspected vehicle, a black SUV, leaving the scene.
Eureka Police received a lead shortly after the video was released to the public. They are now handing the case over to the district attorney for charges of a felony hit and run.
The victim, William Thompson, was taken to St. Joseph Hospital where he was placed in the ICU, according to his wife, Sherry Thompson. .
"He was ran over because he had tire marks all over," Sherry said.
She said he has a surgery scheduled for the morning of Nov. 10: Just one of many he will need.
"He been pretty strong," Sherry said. "He's in a lot of pain though."
Thompson is expected to have a three-month-long recovery, during which he will be unable to walk. This leaves the family without any income during the holiday season. For now, the family said it hopes there will be justice.
"He deserves it," Sherry said.
