Gas tax creates money for Northstate infrastructure
REDDING, Calif. - More details have been released about where the money from the recently passed gas tax bill will be going. Caltrans has released the first list of projects that will be getting part of the estimated $328 million.
Siskiyou County will be getting more than $64 million to help rebuild Interstate 5 between the Sacramento River Bridge in Dunsmuir all the way to Mount Shasta. That project is the largest single allocation announced so far.
No money is currently set to go to projects in Butte, Shasta, Tehama, Glenn, Trinity or Modoc Counties.
Sacramento County is getting nearly $60 million, including more than $37 million shared with Solano County, to repaint a bridge over the Sacramento River. San Francisco County will get around $45 million to get ten new zero emission light rail vehicles.
