Humboldt County District Attorney rolls out re-election campaign
EUREKA, Calif. - On the steps of the Humboldt County Courthouse and before her constituency, current District Attorney, Maggie Fleming, rolled out her re-election campaign for next year's election.
Fleming greeted those who attended with a smile and a hand shake, and sometimes a hug. Her pitch for re-election, "We have retained and recruited excellent people to the Humboldt County District Attorney's Office."
Fleming with 28 years of experience as a prosecutor, said she has the experience to lead a young team of attorney's.
"We have a young, career wise prosecutors office, and so it's very valuable for me with my years of experience my knowledge and what I've done as far as trials and other cases in the community," said Fleming.
Fleming was first elected in June 2014. She ran for the position against three other people, but this year, she is still the only candidate running for the job.
She said she wants to continue her career in law and leave politics aside. "It is a non-partisan position and what I think is so important to understand is that politics has no place in any decision a District Attorney makes," added Fleming.
Primary elections will be held on June 5, 2018.
