I-5 reopens after big rig fire
REDDING, Calif. - Southbound Interstate 5 was closed overnight just north of Redding after a big rig crashed and caught fire. Two lanes reopened around 6:30 a.m.
The collision happened around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the southbound lanes between the Pine Grove and Oasis exits.
The USF Reddaway truck ran into the center divider and burst into flames.
The driver escaped the burning truck uninjured.
The center divider was badly damaged. The southbound lanes were closed overnight.
Two lanes reopened for the Thursday morning commute, but the left lane was expected to be closed until at least 8:30 a.m. for clean-up.
