K-9 helps capture man wanted for robbery, spousal abuse

REDDING, Calif. - A wanted man in Redding is back in jail, after being taken into custody with the help of a police K-9. Redding Police were called to the 6800 block of Westside Road on Saturday around 3 p.m. after a reported sighting of Manuel Perez III who was wanted for robbery, assault with great bodily injury and spousal assault Police said Perez has a long and violent criminal history and is a documented gang member. Officers surrounded the location and ordered Perez to come out. Police said he ran out the back and tried to get away. Police K-9 Taro caught up with him. Police said Perez struggled with the dog, but was subdued and arrested. Perez was taken to the hospital to be treated. He was later booked into Shasta County Jail.
