Man arrested for Eureka armed robbery, another still at large
EUREKA, Calif. - On Thursday, August 10, at about 6:45 p.m., Eureka police officers responded to the 1400 block of E Street for the report of an armed robbery during a marijuana sale. One suspect reportedly pointed a gun at the victim then ran away on foot with a second suspect and around two pounds of marijuana, according to the Eureka Police Department.
Officers detained one of the suspects after a brief foot pursuit near Wabash Avenue and A Street. The man was identified as 25-year-old Riordan Cockrum, of Eureka, according to officials. He was arrested and booked on charges of robbery, conspiracy and resisting arrest.
The suspect who pointed the gun has not been located, but has been identified as Anthony Burgess, a 25-year-old man of Eureka, according to investigators. Officials said Burgess is wanted for robbery and has an outstanding felony warrant for Post-Release Community (PRCS) violation. Burgess is considered armed and dangerous, and officials said citizens should not try to apprehend him.
