Man hides behind car to escape bullets in Drive-by shooting
CORNING, Calif. - There was a drive-by shooting in Corning Sunday night.
The shooting was reported at 9:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of Solano Street.
No one was hurt in the shooting but officers said it was a close call.
The alleged intended victim, 20-year-old Cesar Macedo, hid behind his car to escape the gunfire.
His vehicle was hit four times.
Officers said they found several spent bullet casings in the area.
"Very unusual, disheartening, because this is my hometown and for it to happen in the early evening hours on Solano Street, our main street, there's joggers out jogging that time of day, the temperature has been nice to be out in the evenings," said Sergeant Jeremiah Fears.
Fears said Macedo has not been cooperative with the investigation.
The suspect's vehicle is described as a white, early model BMW.
It was last seen headed eastbound on Solano Street.
Fears said he does not know if this case is drug or gang related.
