Mendocino County opens assistance center for fire victims

MENDOCINO COUNTY, Calif. - Starting on Tuesday, October 17, Mendocino County will be coordinating a local assistance center (LAC) for individuals, families and businesses impacted by the Redwood Fire.

The LAC will provide residents access to available disaster assistance programs and services and will include representatives from local, state and federal agencies.

Individuals who need a replacement of vital records or a new driver's license can apply for those at the LAC. Assistance with food, clothing, temporary housing, or medical appointments will offered at the LAC as well.

The LAC will be open from 10 a.m to 7 p.m. at the Mendocino College gymnasium at 1000 Hensley Creek in Ukiah. The one-stop center will be open daily for the next two weeks, starting on October 17.
