Update: Mendocino officials issue new evacuation order


WILLITS, Calif. - UPDATE: According to the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office, a new evacuation order has been issued as of 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Officials said people living north of Gibson Lane and east to the county line from Gibson Lane should evacuate.


The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office will provide an update on evacuation areas, power outages and communication outages at a community information meeting at 2:00 p.m. today, October 10, at the Willits Library on 390 E. Commercial Street.

Mendocino Sheriff Tom Allman said, "Due to the damaged communication lines, the amount of information being supplied to residents in the north has been very limited. Today, at 2p.m., we will have representatives available to give updates to the residents."

Also on Tuesday at 4p.m., a press conference to discuss the Redwood Complex Fire will be held at the county administration center at 501 Low Gap Road in Ukiah. The sheriff and Cal Fire will give updated information on the fire and evacuation areas.

The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office is continuing to help with mandatory evacuations as well as conducting theft patrols in the areas of evacuated homes.

A State of Emergency in Mendocino County has been declared by the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors and Sheriff Allman.
