Officials release re-population plan for Tomki Road areas


REDWOOD VALLEY, Calif. - The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office has issued a re-population plan for the Tomki Road area in Redwood Valley.

Officials said some remaining evacuated residents of the Tomki Road area will be able to return to their properties beginning at 8 a.m. on October 16.

In the following areas of Redwood Valley:

All areas in the Cave Creek Subdivision including Scenic Dr, Appaloosa Way, and Cave Creek Rd and all feeder roads. Officials said evacuation orders for these areas are lifted, but will remain under an evacuation warning.

Evacuation Warnings have been lifted for all areas in Redwood Valley, with the exception of Cave Creek Subdivision, which remains under evacuation warning.

In the following areas of Willits:

Evacuation warnings have been lifted for all areas in Willits, with the exception of Pine Mountain Subdivision, which remains under an Evacuation Warning.

The following road closures will be in effect:

Ridgeway Hwy at Oat Gap Rd

Eel River Rd at Old Logging Rd

Eel River South of Stroh Ranch

The following safety check points area in effect:

Old Boy Scout Road at Ridgewood Rd

Tomki Rd at East/West Rd

Tomki Rd at the 1st creek crossing North of Redwood Valley

Bear Canyon Rd at Mariposa Creek Rd

Officials said for returning residents in the Tomki Road areas there will be safety checks. Personal protective equipment and information will be available at the controlled entrances.

Returning residents should be sure to make any necessary notifications to their insurance company before disturbing any damaged or destroyed property.

Officials also ask retuning residents to please use East Road and Laughlin Way to access the repopulation area to avoid impacts to Eagle Peak Middle School.
