Homicide investigation in Humboldt County

Deputies are trying to find out why a man was shot and killed in Humboldt County.

The victim was found on the side of the road near Bell Springs and Alderpoint Roads Monday morning.

Officials described the victim as a man in his mid-20's to early 30's, about 5-foot-8 with a dark complexion. Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff's office.

Assault with a deadly weapon arrest in Corning

Police in Corning arrested a woman after they said she was driving drunk and lied to officers about being stabbed.

Around 2 a.m. Monday, Stephanie Purcell allegedly told officers that she got into a fight with her boyfriend and had been stabbed. Police found Steven McKinney with a large stab wound to his shoulder. Purcell was arrested and booked into Tehama County Jail.

Suspect on the loose after high-speed pursuit in Butte County

Butte County deputies are looking for Ryan Rash after a dangerous pursuit in Chico Monday afternoon.

Deputies served an arrest warrant near a home on Jasper Drive and said Rash ran off and then drove away.

They had to call off the pursuit for public safety.

North and South Korea to hold discussions on 2018 Olympics

South Korean officials are offering to find cooperation with their northern neighbors through high-level talks after North Korea's Kim Jong Un said he's willing to send a delegation to the 2018 Winter Olympics.

The South Korean proposal includes meeting at a border village next Tuesday.
