2 injured after van collides with tree in Ukiah
UKIAH, Calif. - A van with two passengers crashed into a tree in Ukiah on Sunday, leaving both occupants with injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
CHP said at around 2:23 a.m. on Dec. 3, 53-year-old Eddy Joseph Jones II of Navarro, Calif. was driving a white 1994 Dodge Ram van on Highway 101 near Ukiah, when, for unknown reason, he let the van run off the roadside. .
The van careened off the road and collided with a tree. CHP said it was raining at the time of the collision. Jones suffered minor injuries, including scratches to his arm and head. The CHP said he was wearing his seatbelt when he crashed.
The passenger of the van, 56-year-old Luis Armando Borja Jr. of San Francisco was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, according to the CHP. Officials said he suffered major injuries, including a gouge to his hip and scratches on his head. The cause of this collision is still under investigation. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be contributing factors.
