Update: Officer and suspect sustain injuries from Del Norte shooting


CRESCENT CITY, Calif. - Update 1:15 p.m:

One Del Norte County Sheriff Deputy sustained a gunshot wound and is currently in stable condition, according to the Del Norte Sheriff's Office.

Two suspects were taken into custody. Officials said one suspect is also being treated for gunshot wounds.

Officials said information is limited at this time due to multiple agencies being involved in a very in-depth investigation.


This morning, around 10 a.m., an officer involved shooting took place in Crescent City, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officials said the shooting occurred on Washington Boulevard and Lafayette Way and is still being investigated by several different agencies.

An officer with the CHP was able to confirm to North Coast News that at least one person was shot, and that all suspects have been accounted for. Right now it is still unclear who was shot.

School officials say Del Norte High School was on lockdown for about five minutes during the ordeal.
