UPDATE: Summit Fire 100% contained, all evacuations lifted

Fire destroys home in Palermo and damages multiple vehicles

PALERMO, Calif. - The Summit Fire, burning in Butte County, has been fully contained. All evacuations have been lifted.

CAL FIRE said it made great progress on the fire overnight, and had 100% containment by Saturday afternoon.

The fire was reported at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Summit Road and District Center Drive.

Fire officials said three homes and two outbuildings have been destroyed. Multiple outbuildings and vehicles were damaged or destroyed, according to CAL FIRE.

The cause of the Summit Fire is still under investigation.

Residents are asked to watch for fire crews still working in the area.
