Wildfire in Trinity County burns 50 acres


REDDING, Calif. - Evacuations were put in place Tuesday night at firefighters battled a fire in Trinity County.

The West Fire has burned about 50 acres in the Trinity Pines area southwest of Hayfork. Officials say it is 30% contained but that it is not spreading.

About 20 to 30 homes are under evacuation. Officials said they don't expect the evacuations to be lifted any sooner than Wednesday morning.

5 engines, a bulldozer, 4 crews, 2 helicopters, an air attack, and two air tankers are battling the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
