REDDING, Calif. - Grocery Outlet in Redding is offering several ways for people to donate to KRCR's Annual Stuff the Bus Toy Drive, benefiting the Salvation Army.

Employees say they've lost track the number of time's they've partnered with the event but have noticed donations are a little low this year.

Owner Ron Davis said he expects that to change by the live event on December 9. "I do know that it is seems like when we do events like this, it really is kind of last minute, so I expect Thursday and Friday for the toys to really pile up," said Davis.

The Stuff the Bus barrel at Grocery Outlet seemed full Tuesday but more toys were waiting in the back room for Christmas Day. They're not the only locations where donations can be dropped off through December 16.

"I think everybody just kind of likes to just pitch in and do what they can. It's just such a great event that all the employees have fun doing and I know the customers are very giving and make it possible," said Davis.

For those that cannot buy a toy, Davis has added collection bins at each register for cash donations. The night before the live event he will tally up the donations and match it, up to $1,000. His employees then head to the toy aisle and go on a shopping spree.

"It's really nice because the cashiers, they get involved. It's exciting for them as they are talking to customers and customers are opening their wallets and being generous," said Davis.

The giving did not stop there; Davis also went on his shopping spree Tuesday buying hundreds of items to help fill the food pantry at the Salvation Army.

"I kind of believe that toys are great but playing with toys on a full stomach is even better," said Davis.

The Stuff the Bus barrel is located right at the front of the store. Davis said you can find a toy in his store or bring another one in, as long as it helps to make Christmas a great holiday for everyone.

You still have time to donate. Drop off a new unwrapped toy at any Stuff the Bus location through December 16. For a full list of locations click here.
