Arrest made in fatal Easter Sunday hit-and-run in Gridley
GRIDLEY, Calif. —
The Gridley-Biggs Police Department reported on Friday that they arrested a suspect in the fatal hit-and-run collision that took place on April 1.
Police reported that around 11 p.m. Thursday they arrested Anne Marie Montez in connection to the fatal crash.
Officials say that the initial incident took place at approximately 9:07 p.m. on Easter Sunday, officers and Cal Fire paramedics responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of Magnolia Street and Haskell Street.
The victim was Maria DeJesus Gomez, 48, a longtime resident of Gridley, who had suffered major injuries in the crash. Gomez died in the hospital the next day.
Montez was arrested without incident. Investigators noted that she failed to stop her vehicle after hitting Gomez.
