Bank robbery suspect nabbed after alleged holdup

CHICO, Calif. - A man suspected to have robbed the Tri Counties Bank on Mangrove Saturday afternoon was arrested by Chico police not long after the holdup.

The call for a holdup alarm came in a little after 12:30 p.m.

The suspect fled but a short time later Chico police officers located a man matching the description of the suspect in the Lindo Channel near Manzanita Court.

48-year-old Sean McCarthy, of Chico, tried to get away from officers, but a police K9 was able to take him down. Police said McCarthy fought with the K9 and officers.

Money taken from the bank was allegedly found on McCarthy. Although there was a mention of a gun in the holdup, no weapon was found on him.

He was arrested and transported to Enloe Medical Center to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

McCarthy is charged with robbery, assaulting a police K9 and resisting officers.
