Officials: Man shot and killed by brother in Bangor
BANGOR, Calif. - The Butte County Sheriff's Office said a man was shot and killed by his brother in Bangor Tuesday and the motive is under investigation.
Officials said on Tuesday around 5:45 a.m., a man was brought into the Bangor Fire Station with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Officials added the man was pronounced dead at the scene and was identified as Andrew Paz Junior, 25.
Jim Marin, a firefighter at the Bangor Fire Station, tried to save Paz's life. He said it's not uncommon for people to come straight to the station when they're in need of help, but Paz's injuries were too severe.
"We were awoken to a drive up with a person honking a horn, woke us," said Marin. "We were awake but not moving about yet, it was early, it was dark. We came outside and realized we immediately had a job to do."
Butte County Sheriff's deputies responded to a home on the 100 block of Bangor Park Road, where they found Andrew's brother, Lorenzo Paz, 20, as well Andrew's father, Andres Paz, 49. Officials added two indoor marijuana grow sites were discovered on the property.
Butte County Sheriff's detectives arrived at the scene to investigate. During the investigation, detectives learned Andrew's brother, Lorenzo Paz, shot Andrew. Officials added the motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
Officials said firearms were seized from the home. The marijuana plants found on scene were eradicated due to evidence found that indicated the sale and distribution of marijuana and the manufacturing of butane honey oil.
Lorenzo Paz was arrested and booked into the Butte County Jail on a charge of manslaughter with the use of a firearm. His bail was set at $80,000.
