Big rig driver arrested for DUI after crash on Highway 99
CHICO, Calif. - The driver of a big rig was arrested for DUI late Thursday night after he overturned his big rig on Highway 99 in Butte County.
Officials said at approximately 11:21 p.m., Chico CHP received a call about a collision on southbound Highway 99, south of Cohasset Road, that involved an overturned big rig blocking both the southbound lanes.
Once CHP arrived on scene they found the big rig, which was from Oregon, was hauling 44,000 pounds of potatoes and onions. The 27-year-old driver from Richmond was arrested for suspicion of DUI and booked into the Butte County Jail.
Officials said Highway 99 was closed until 6:20 a.m. Friday.
