Mudslides close two Butte County roads
BERRY CREEK, Calif. - Two roads in Butte County were closed late Tuesday into Wednesday morning because of mudslides, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The first slide blocked Oro Quincy Highway at Berry Creek Road, just south of the Berry Creek fire station.
Due to the mudslide, the Pioneer Union Elementary School District is closed Wednesday. That closure includes the Bald Rock Children's Center and Berry Creek Elementary School. The closure affects 79 students.
Butte County Public Works says the second mudslide is at Lumpkin Road, about two miles north of Forbestown Road.
At both locations there are large amounts of mud and rock in the road.
The CHP said Lumpkin Road and Oro Quincy Highway will be closed until later Wednesday morning.
