Site of Chico playoff game up in the air
CHICO, Calif. - Thursday night's football game between Enterprise and Pleasant Valley may determine the site of next Friday's NSCIF Division II semifinal matchup.
Waiting in the wings is second seeded Chico High School, which earned a bye in the first round of the playoffs but will play the winner of the Enterprise/Pleasant Valley clash.
The higher seeded Chico Panthers, which plays home games at Pleasant Valley High School, would technically be the home team but have to play the Vikings on the lower seeded PV field.
If this scenario plays out, the Chico Unified School District said it may rent the stadium at Chico State as is done for the annual Almond Bowl matchup between the schools.
The university charges $3,000 to rent the stadium but some of the cost is defrayed by parking fees.
However, if Enterprise beats PV, Chico may not mind playing its semifinal game at Pleasant Valley.
A decision is expected to be announced Friday morning.
