2014 Glenn Co. murder to be heard in Tehama County

CORNING, Calif. - A 2014 murder case will finally get its day in court now that the Tehama County District Attorney has filed the case.

On May 24, 2014, the Glenn County Sheriff's Office and California Department of Justice, Bureau of Forensic Services responded to a reported burned body in an orchard near Hamilton City.

The dead man was identified as Marat Magdeev, 21, of Chico.

During the investigation, two suspects were identified by the Glenn County Sheriff's Office. Poly Sanchez and Gabino Madera.

Later during the investigation, the Tehama County Sheriff's Office was able to locate evidence corroborating evidence that detailed Sanchez and Madera as the suspects and to identify the location of the homicide of Magdeev as occurring in Tehama county, south of Corning.

On October 13, 2016, the Tehama County Sheriff's Office filed the case with the Tehama County District Attorney's Office, where Sanchez and Madera were charged with murder.

Both suspects are in custody at the Tehama County Jail for the 2014 homicide of Walter Dani.
