Update: USFS employee finds missing dog after fatal crash
ALTURAS, Calif. —
According to the Modoc County Sheriff's Office, "Lena", the dog that went missing after a fatal crash, was found by a USFS employee Sunday.
Officials said Lena went missing after her owner was killed in a single vehicle rollover crash on Highway 139, approximately 12 miles north of Candy, on May 30.
When deputies arrived on scene they found the driver, Jamey Gerhard Johnson, 48, dead inside the vehicle.
Lena was seen running from the scene shortly after the crash.
Lena was in good health when she was found and has since been reunited with her family in Oregon.
