$1 million bail set for Redding alleged kidnapper
REDDING, Calif. - A $1 million bail was set for Redding alleged kidnapper, Fred Sanderson, in a Shasta County Court room Tuesday afternoon.
Sanderson is being charged with the kidnapping and attempted murder of a 25-year-old Redding woman on November 26.
The woman was found by a group of people searching for a Christmas tree the day after Sanderson, and the other suspect in the case Johanna Knighten, allegedly dumped her in the woods in the Hat Creek area.
Sanderson appeared briefly in court Tuesday and will return Wednesday for another appearance. Sanderson was detained by police Friday after they had been searching for him since the woman was found.
Sanderson is also facing charges for torture, robbery, and threatening with criminal intent.
