263 pounds of marijuana found in U-Haul trailer
REDDING, Calif. - Two men were arrested during a traffic stop after deputies said they found 263 pounds of processed marijuana in a U-Haul trailer.
The Shasta County Sheriff's Office said the arrest happened Wednesday around 12:30 a.m., on Eureka Way at California Street in Redding.
Deputies pulled over a Jeep Wrangler pulling a U-Haul for vehicle code violations.
A search was conducted after deputies said their K-9 "Chase" alerted them to possible drugs. Deputies said during the search of the trailer, they found 263 pounds of processed marijuana. The marijuana was packaged in one pound bags. Bulk amounts of money were also located.
The driver, Tyson Scharf, 27 of Rocklin, and passenger David Mireles, 31 of San Francisco, were both arrested on charges of possession of marijuana for sale and for transportation of marijuana.
