Buckeye School of the Arts participating in Stuff the Bus
REDDING, Calif. - Buckeye School of the Arts in Redding is taking part in Stuff The Bus.
Dysen Vigil, 12, a student at Buckeye said he is in a leadership class with 20 to 30 other students. He explained the class helps to facilitate different fundraisers for the school, such as Stuff the Bus.
He said the school started collecting non-perishable food items, like canned fruits and veggies, at the beginning of April. Every Friday they collect the food items from each classroom.
"I'd tell them to encourage people to bring things in so that way our community doesn't go hungry," Vigil said.
Vigil explained he knows there is a need for food in Redding.
"It helps people who are homeless in this kind of area because we do have a lot of people that are homeless in this area," he stated.
He mentioned the school is offering an incentive for the students to bring donations. The class that donates the most will get a pizza party.
