Columbia Elementary loses power, cancels after school programs

REDDING, Calif. - Columbia Elementary School is canceling after-school programs because of a power outage Thursday.

According to Superintendent Clay Ross, a lightning strike took out a transformer and power to roughly 50 percent of their campus.

Ross said that all students and staff were safe and no injuries were reported.

PG&E is already en route to the school, and they hope to have power restored for normal school operations Monday.
