Cragview water customers under boil water advisory
Due to a malfunction, the Shasta County Service Area (CSA) #23, Cragview water customers - in the area of Cragview south of Dunsmuir - are under a boil advisory for drinking water.
According to the Shasta County Public Works office, the water system lost positive pressure after a vehicle drove into a fire hydrant on the evening of Dec. 29. The large leak caused by the crash drained the tank and portion of the distribution system.
Officials noted that repairs have been made and pressure has been restored.
They reported that it is necessary for Cragview water users to boil their water before drinking it or using it for consumption.
The boil advisory will remain in place until subsequent testing indicates the water is safe to drink. Officials said it may take until Jan. 5 to complete the testing.
