Haven Humane Society taking part in Stuff the Bus food drive
ANDERSON, Calif. - It is that time of year again for KRCR News Channel 7's Stuff the Bus summer food drive.
The food collected is donated to The Salvation Army.
Haven Humane Society is participating in the food drive for the second time.
Mark Storrey, Haven Humane Society CEO, said they participate because they love to give back to the community.
They have a bin at the adoption center.
Storrey said they will give $25 off the cost of adopting a cat or dog if you donate a nonperishable food item.
He hopes to have more than five barrels full of food.
"So we want to get a lot more people to bring the food here. We want to stuff the bus we want to take a big dent out of that with Haven Humane Society and the food that we bring. So I'm encouraging the staff to do it, volunteers, and customers. We really want to help out and have this food go to the community and to the people who really need it," Storrey said.
A normal adoption fee for a dog is around $135 and for cats it's around $85.
You can also drop off donations on May 12 at Crown Motors in Redding and at The Downtown City Plaza in Chico.
