Update: Red Bluff man arrested for DUI after boy is hit by boat on Shasta Lake
REDDING, Calif. - According to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office a Red Bluff man has been arrested for boating under the influence after a boy who was skiing in Shasta Lake was struck by a boat and disappeared under water.
Officials said the Shasta County Sheriff's Boating Safety Unit received a call at 7:58 p.m. Monday night for a boating accident on Shasta Lake in front of Digger Bay.
Boating safety personnel arrived and searched the area and were unable to locate the missing boy. Robert Noftz, 50, of Red Bluff, was arrested for boating under the influence and booked into the Shasta County Jail.
Officials said the Shasta County Sheriff's Office Boating Safety Unit and Dive Team will continue their search for the missing boy Tuesday.
