Kaleidoscope giving away free coffee with food donation

REDDING, Calif. - Kaleidoscope Coffee in Redding and Anderson is sweetening the deal for those that donate to KRCR News Channel 7's Stuff the Bus Food Drive this week.

Both locations are one of several local business in Shasta, Tehama and Butte counties collecting nonperishable food donations for the Salvation Army to help families in need this summer.

General Manager Al Mires said donations were light as of Monday but he believed the barrel would fill up before the big live event on Friday, especially since he's giving away free 16 ounce drinks.

"I observed when I was a kid my parents really struggled working hard to try and put food on the table and there's a lot of families that do that. They're doing the best they can, they're out there working but sometimes they're under the crunch and it's hard to make ends meet at the end of the month," said Mires.

The Kaleidoscope Coffee, at 2258 North St. in Anderson, does not have a red barrel outside the kiosk but employees will take donations.

You can also drop off canned food during KRCR News Channel 7's live event on Friday May 12 and help stuff a B-Line and RABA bus will food at the Chico City Plaza and Crown Motors in Redding.

Mires said he will also be out in Redding during the event handing out more free coffee from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for anyone that donates.
