Man arrested after early morning pursuit through Tehama, Shasta County
Yu Sung Chin, 39, was taken into custody at gunpoint early Monday morning after leading law enforcement on a pursuit that went through Tehama and Shasta County.
According to Red Bluff CHP, at about 5:30 a.m. officials received a report of a vehicle traveling more than 100 mph going north on Highway 99, coming into Red Bluff.
Officials said Red Bluff police initiated a pursuit as Chin made his way onto northbound I-5 in a 2014 GMC Sierra truck, which was stolen from Lodi.
Officials said Chin then took the Bowman Road exit, near Evergreen School, where sheriff's deputies laid a spike strip. Officials said Chin then headed back to the freeway where he got onto southbound I-5 while traveling north going about 90 mph.
Officials said Chin was chased into Cottonwood where he was finally stopped around 4th and Main Street. Chin was taken into custody at gunpoint and was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, failure to obey, and felony warrants.
