Man arrested for Sportman's Warehouse burglary
A man was arrested for commercial burglary after police said he broke into Sportsman's Warehouse in Redding through the roof early Wednesday morning.
It happened around 1:30 a.m. at the business off of Hilltop Drive.
Police, a K-9 and a California Highway Patrol helicopter checked the location but couldn't immediately find the suspect. Officers said the suspect had left one of the exterior doors and set off the burglary alarm.
They found the suspect, Daniel Francis Burger, 30 of Redding, around Canby Road and Dusty Lane.
He was found with soaking wet pants, according to police. They said he may have crossed the drainage ditch between Sportsman's Warehouse and Canby Road, or escaped through wet vegetation.
Police said Burger was seen on surveillance footage wearing the same shoes and backpack, but that his face was covered during the crime. He allegedly had several stolen items from Sportsman's Warehouse in his backpack.
Burger is on formal felony probation, according to police. He was arrested for commercial burglary, possession of stolen property and felony violation of his probation terms.
