North Market reopened after reports of suspect with gun, shots fired
REDDING, Calif. - North Market Street was closed at Benton Drive in both directions as police looked for a suspect in the area, Friday night.
According to officials, around 7 p.m. a man was reported as firing a gun at streetlights along North Market Street. Officers, K-9 Able, and a CHP helicopter responded to the area to search for the suspect.
Law enforcement was able to locate Forrest Andrew Rose, 51, beneath heavy vegetation in Sulphur Creek Hill. Rose initially refused to follow officer's orders, but after awhile he was taken into custody without incident.
A search of his person revealed no rifle, and no rifle was found in the area. Officers were unable to confirm if shots were fired.
Redding Electric Utilities arrived to perform possible damage control. After a thorough investigation with the officers, it was confirmed that the substation was not hit.
