Oroville Dam evacuation 1 year anniversary look back
OROVILLE, Calif. —
A year after the crisis at the Oroville Dam forced almost 200,000 people from their homes, leaders in Sacramento have passed a bill designed to improve dam inspections.
The added focus all started on Feb. 12, 2017, when the Oroville Dam had a possibility of the emergency spillway failing. Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea made the decision to evacuate everyone living downstream of the dam.
