Redding School of the Arts presents "Disney's Sleeping Beauty"
REDDING, Calif. —
Redding School of the Arts will perform a musical production of Disney's Sleeping Beauty at David Marr Auditorium.
The show opens on Friday, January 19th and almost every part of the show is run by the students.
The musical had a rehearsal on Thursday afternoon at the auditorium where cast members on stage practiced their musical numbers and scene staging. The student production team was backstage making sure the production runs smoothly.
This is the 18th annual tradition of Redding School of the Arts. Giving students hands-on experience of putting on a show, both on and off the stage.
7th-grader Jenna Nikoden, who plays the character Maleficent, said why she believes people should see the show.
"You are going to enjoy it a lot. You're missing out on something if you don't come. I believe you should come," said Nikoden.
7th-grader, Hayden Kay who plays the Prince, expressed how he felt about being part of the show.
"Well, it's very like cool feeling, cause I always wanted to be a prince in a Disney movie you know. So I'm kind of like on stage so it's really cool," said Kay.
There will be an opportunity to take photos with the young cast after the evening performances.
The musical will take place at the David Marr Theater, 2200 Eureka Way in Redding. Performance dates and times are January 19 at 7 p.m., Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. & 7 p.m., Jan 26 at 7 p.m. and Jan 27, at 2 p.m. & 7 p.m.
