Shasta County teen dies in dirt bike crash


PALO CEDRO, Calif. - A dirt bike accident between teens left one dead and one in the hospital Friday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, two local teens were riding dirt bikes on private property in the area of Old Highway 44 and Stillwater when they collided head-on.

According to officials, both teens suffered major injuries and were taken to the local hospital. A 16-year-old teen succumbed to his injuries, while the other one is still recovering from non-life threatening injuries.

Both of the teens were reported as wearing protective gear.

Alcohol and drugs don't appear to be a factor in the crash.
