Wanted felon in jail for firearm possession

REDDING, Calif. - A felon wanted for attempted murder in Nevada was sent to the Shasta County Jail after he was caught with two firearms.

He was convicted of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon Thursday.

Officials said Rene Harris was part of a drug and firearm search at an apartment on Boulder Creek Drive July 21. Police said he and a group of people were seen leaving the apartment.

They found him several blocks away from the apartment with two firearms. They said they had to hold him at gunpoint to arrest him.

Harris has previously been convicted of armed robbery and is wanted for attempted murder, after allegedly shooting his brother in the back.
