Woman arrested for carjacking truck, kicking officer

REDDING, Calif. - A woman who reportedly stole a construction truck in Redding is also charged with resisting arrest after police said she kicked an officer several times.

Alice Kelsey, 46, was arrested for carjacking, assault on an officer and resisting arrest.

The incident started Tuesday just before 10 p.m. when police responded to a report of a carjacking. Redding police said an employee with Axner Construction reported that a construction truck had been taken after it was left running near Placer Street and Buenaventura Boulevard.

A woman got into the running truck. Another employee intervened and tried to get her out of the vehicle as she sped away. The employee was slightly injured when they fell off the truck as the suspect drove away.

Officer Duval located the abandoned truck just west of the city limits. Officer Tracy arrived on scene and a started a K-9 track with his partner, Nord.

The suspect was located in a nearby field, just as a resident in the area called to report a woman prowling. Police said Kelsey resisted and kicked Officer Duval several times during the arrest process before she was taken into custody.
