TCSO: SWAT Team requested, suspect arrested after shot fired near deputy in Rancho Tehama
RANCHO TEHAMA, Calif. —
Tehama County deputies are investigating a shot fired near a deputy in Rancho Tehama Tuesday night that triggered the response of the SWAT Team and ended with an arrest.
According to the Tehama County Sheriff's Office, Darin Anthony Madden, 27, was booked into the Tehama County Jail for being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
Officials said the incident started around 11:45 p.m. Tuesday when deputies responded to a burglary on North Mendocino Drive in Rancho Tehama.
Deputies ended up at a trailer in the Placer Court area and said a shot was fired at a deputy while he was knocking and announcing that he was from the Tehama County Sheriff's Office.
Officials said the sound was so loud and close that the deputy left the home and called for help.
The SWAT Team responded to the home around 5 a.m. Wednesday and deputies said Madden surrendered around 6 a.m.
Officials said they still don't know why the shots were fired, but said they believe it might have been unintentional.
Officials added no one was injured and there are currently no concerns for the public.
