Man arrested after threatening teen with machete over golf disc

RED BLUFF, Calif. - The Red Bluff Police Department said they arrested Robert Michael Lonsberry, 31, of Red Bluff, Tuesday after he reportedly threatened a teenager with a machete over a golf disc.

Police said the 16-year-old reported that Lonsberry threatened him at Dog Island Park. The teenager said he had picked up a golf disc that he found on the ground when Lonsberry approached him with a machete and threatened him, stating the golf disc belonged to him.

Josh White said he was playing golf disk with Lonsberry at the time, but missed the incident.

"The kid did the right thing by calling the authorities, absolutely I agree," White said. "I mean nobody should be going after somebody with a machete."

Officers found Lonsberry in the park and arrested him for making criminal threats and brandishing a weapon. He was booked into the Tehama County Jail and is being held on a $53,000 bail.
