RED BLUFF, Calif. - Tehama County Animal Care Center is trying to get more than 50 dogs and cats adopted by the end of this week as part of their Home for the Holiday's campaign.

Starting Thursday, December 14 through Saturday December 16, dog adoptions are $25, $10 for kittens and adult cats are free.

Center Manager Christine McClintock said this is their fourth year for the campaign and their goal to find each animal a forever home.

She adds this time of year is critical for some because the winter can be the most stressful due to the colder temperatures and the rain.

"The kennels are indoor-outdoor so the heaters are only going to get so warm because they are open to the outside. So the dogs wear sweaters and use beds but just like people that have arthritis they older dogs get arthritis and the cold weather never helps with that," said McClintock.

For every adoption the non-profit organization Providing Essentials for Tehama Shelter (P.E.T.S.) will also give a stocking full of treats and toys. So that the dog or cat has something under the Christmas tree from Santa.
