HCSO: Fortuna woman booked on felony warrant after climbing over highway railing

A Fortuna woman is in custody following a welfare check on Humboldt Hill where she was reportedly "over the railing" of the Humboldt Hill overpass Sunday, according to the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office.

On March 11, at about 7:15 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the Humboldt Hill overpass.

When they arrived on-scene, deputies observed the woman, 40-year-old Jennifer May Cooper, walking with an open lock blade knife along Humboldt Hill Road near the Highway 101 northbound on ramp, officials said.

When they contacted Cooper and ordered her to drop the weapon, deputies said she complied. Upon further investigation, officials found she had a felony warrant out for her arrest.

Cooper was taken into custody and booked on her warrant for the following charges: assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, vandalism, exhibiting a deadly weapon other than a firearm and petty theft. Her bail is set at $75,000.
