Wildfire burns 28 acres east of Chico, traffic control in effect

CHICO, Calif. - A vegetation fire burning along Highway 32 has burned 28 acres and affected traffic for the highway.

As of Tuesday morning, CAL FIRE said the fire has burned 28 acres and is 60 percent contained. No evacuations have been ordered.

CAL FIRE originally reported the fire had burned 50 acres, but scaled that number back to 28 after more accurate mapping readings.

Firefighters are seeing some spotting cross Highway 32, but have so far kept the fire from jumping the highway.

Highway 32 was closed initially, but at 12:55 p.m. the roadway was open to one-way traffic with a pilot vehicle.
